Bread and Circus Politics

By | Blogs and Other Posts | No Comments

The masquerade is finally over: Democrats are finally coming out as the socialists they’ve always pretended not to be. Apparently they find it freeing—I find it refreshing. Americans might finally get a clear choice moving forward between undisguised socialism and free market capitalism. Now there are nearly a dozen Democratic gubernatorial candidates openly calling for a universal healthcare, single payer system, pounding the lectern and insisting that, by God, insurance is a human right. But I’ll tell you what it really is: bread and circus politics. Promise the voters anything and everything in the hope of gaining power, the consequences…

Americans Need Clear Answers on FISA Abuse

By | Blogs and Other Posts | No Comments

The Department of Justice last week released copies of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant applications that James Comey’s FBI used to begin electronic surveillance of Carter Page, a former Trump campaign advisor. While much of the FISA warrants were heavily redacted, it’s clear the FBI used the politically motivated Steele dossier as the primary basis for their applications. Understand what that means: a piece of partisan propaganda funded by the Democrats, compiled by an ex-British spy, filled with “intelligence” that has never been corroborated, let alone sourced, was used to justify spying on a U.S. citizen, on U.S….

None Dared Call It Treason . . . When It Was a Democrat

The past week of Russia hysteria has me longing for the good old days. Like 2009, when a Democratic president could pull missile defense systems out of Poland and the Czech Republic to appease Vladimir Putin without facing charges of treason. Or 2010, when a former Democratic president could take a cool half-million from a suspected Russian government-backed source to speak in Moscow and that wasn’t considered treasonous, either. Or 2012, when no one was screaming for impeachment when a Democratic president on a hot mic assured the Russian president that he’ll have “more flexibility” on missile defense systems once…

Never Trumpers don’t represent the Republican base

By | Blogs and Other Posts | No Comments

Never Trumpers have completely lost the plot. They’ve had a year and a half to digest the lessons from the 2016 election and observe the Trump presidency. However, they’ve come to the asinine conclusion that the only way forward is to blow up everything, give power to the Democrats and start from scratch. Apparently, somewhere deep down in the DNA of establishment Republicans, is the nasty “Let’s snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” gene. It’s no surprise that “Neville Chamberlain Republicans” are highly sought-after guests on mainstream TV and placements in the “best” newspapers in the nation. Unfortunately, these…

Transparency Would Wipe the Smirk Off Strzok’s Face

By | Blogs and Other Posts | No Comments

Normally, a congressional hearing is not the place to look for revelations of undiscovered truths. Typically, not much “hearing” happens at a hearing, anyway. It’s often just an opportunity for congressmen to grandstand and yell out a few talking points so their staffers can make a quick video to post on Facebook. Last Thursday’s hearing with FBI agent Peter Strzok followed the usual pattern, for the most part, with one key difference: the American people finally saw the truth about Strzok. Strzok, the disgraced but somehow-still-employed-with-security-clearance agent, is a real piece of work. His behavior has been so shameful that…
